When you use your five basic tools and/or the fishing rod/pole you’ll lose 1 stamina. In Harvest Moon: Back to Nature your character begins the game with a total of 100 stamina and each Power Berry you eat adds +10 stamina to that total. These are probably the only really useful things to confess. If you’re not forgiven though all the villagers will like you slightly less. You can also confess that the villagers don’t like you and if you’re forgiven all the villagers will like you slightly more. If you confess to littering and you are forgiven it will reset your total litter count to 0. Your chances of being forgiven increase the more Pastor Carter likes you. You can only confess once per day in this game and you might not be forgiven. If you go to the church between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm you can "confess your sins". You can however reduce your total litter count by going to the church and confessing. It also apparently increases the chances of a typhoon during the Summer or a blizzard in the Winter.

The higher your litter total in the videogame the more garbage you’ll find when you fish. Every time you litter your affection with every character goes down by 1 and your litter total goes up by 1. If you throw an item on the ground inside the town or inside someone’s house it is counted as littering. In Harvest Moon: Back to Nature you can throw items on the ground on your farm, on the mountain, near the hot springs or near Gotz’s house. The village and the area around it isn’t very big so you should have no trouble finding your way around. This is a map of all the points of interest in the game.
